ABOUT THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY EVENT
Cork as a follower city, has been selected to host the 2017 General Assembly for this Project from 31st May to 2nd June 2017. This three day event will be hosted in various venues across the City and will demonstrate initiatives and innovations in the areas of Energy, Infrastructure, Transport. The Assembly typically attracts up to 100 delegates from across Europe offering a unique opportunity to work with other European cites sharing ideas around sustainable economic development.

In 2005 Cork was designated European Capital of Culture, and in 2010 the city was awarded the accolade of one of the top ten cities in the World to visit by Lonely Planet's Best in Travel.
Cork City is the shopping and commercial capital of the south, yet it still manages to retain the pleasant charm and friendliness of a country town. Like the rest of the Cork area, food and restaurants are an important feature of the city. Visitors can choose from Cork’s many restaurants and cafes or browse in the famous English Market, where visitors can try traditional Irish food and Cork delicacies can be seen in all their glory.
